Kate Beckinsale recreates Queen¡¯s ¡®I Want to Break Free¡¯ video for Pride month
British actor shot the video with three friends, all of whom were based in different locations
The British actor posted the clip to her Instagram, which sees her donning a fake mustache and a leather miniskirt, a la Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in the classic video.
Beckinsale was joined by friends Markus Molinari, Jonathan Voluck and Brendan Scannell in the video, all of whom portray different members of the band.
¡°Happy Pride from our social distancing asses to yours,¡± Beckinsale captioned the clip.
She also posted a second clip of extra footage from the recreation, writing alongside it: ¡°Extra queens collector¡¯s edition.¡±
The original ¡°I Want to Break Free¡± video, from 1984, saw Queen dressed in drag. It remains one of the most memorable videos of the decade, and sparked controversy in the US.
Beckinsale recently slammed criticism of her choice to date younger men as ¡°ridiculous¡±. She said: ¡°It can feel like a little bit of a political act to be a woman over 32 who¡¯s having any fun at all.¡±
In May, she alleged that convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein, who was formerly one of the most powerful men in Hollywood, had ¡°psychologically tortured¡± her for years.
She also alleged that she had received professional blowback for standing up to him.
